Carnival!

Okay, this one qualifies as a grandparents’ entry…because grandparents are the only ones capable of really appreciating something so simple as a kid’s day at the Carnival.

This is also a post designed to displace the USNA Chapel Cover post.  We were made famous on the USNA parents’ email lists when a proud parent linked to the site.  The hits to the site spiked big time.  This would normally be a great thing — a fun thing even.  But in this case, it seems some people think that plebes should be treated as “plebes” until the end of the academic year.  The comments I’ve had to delete have been passionate…some congratulating the Class of 2012 while others were very vocal about the plebes being kept in their proper place.

In my humble opinion, some folks need to lighten up. Plebes are treated in a certain way as a part of their training.  They are not treated in a certain way because they are “less” of anything. When certain and specific training has been successfully completed, new training methods evolve.  If Captain Klunder says it’s time to move on, that’s good enough for me.  A few of our new readers should make note.

Anyway!  Carnival!  It was the Italian Festival, actually, and we’ve been attending since we first found the Venice area.  Young Christopher was able to join us, and he filled the role of “ride partner” for Paris in stellar fashion!  Even Aunt Lynn was here!  (Grammy too, but we didn’t get any pix of her at the festival).

Let’s start with Lynn!

Yeah!  Lovin’ that Florida sunshine!

Now check out the Bumper Cars.  Is this a diabolical pair, or what?

And here are a couple from rides that make Mom and Dad want to vomit.  A big “thanks!” to Chris for sparing us the retching experience!

And before we go, I just want to remind everyone of one very, very  important concept: safety first!
