Induction Day revisited

Hey!  Plebe parents are a wonderful bunch.  We’re all proud of our kids (obviously), but deep down inside, we’re also a bit concerned.  Yeah, most of these kids are ready for what’s coming, but we still wonder, right?

So the parents do a lot of “supporting”.  We subscribe to countless email lists that allow parents to share advice, share war stories, and best of all, share photos.

One Dad in particular was parked at a spot that he knew the new plebes would walk past as they went through various stages of processing.  Karen and I happened to be near the same spot, and we saw some pretty entertaining moments.  Cadres can make even the brightest kids look like fools.  It was funny in a “shit happens” kind of way.

We never did see Mark.  And this Dad never saw his son…until he looked at all the photos he took!  Trust me on this…they all start to look the same.

And this Dad did get pictures of Mark!  I found them on the Dad’s web site, so I’ll post them now.

He looks okay, right?  At this stage of the day, the cadres were giving the plebes a very hard time.  Mark looks like he’s handling it okay.

On this one, though, he looks like he’s setting himself up as a target:

Mark has a bit of a smirk going on, and if the cadre in the foreground turns left, I bet Mark gets his ass kicked.  But somebody else has the cadre’s attention, so the Wonder Boy is spared…

I’ll post pictures as I find them.  Plus, when I see something interesting in the daily schedule, I’ll share it.  Today, for example, I’m pretty sure his company went over to the Naval Base across the river to hit the shooting ranges.  I know he’s going to love that!
